We’re grateful to our friend Steven Walker (Franken Studios) for bringing his portable studio equipment into Anya’s living room and recording a recent practice. Steven showed up with his computer, nice microphones, multi-input interface to direct the mic signals into his computer, and mic stands and cables. We arranged ourselves in a circle in the middle of the living room—as we normally practice—and Steven set up individual mics to capture the voice of each instrument.
The recording is an honest representation of what Doc Watson referred to as “the living room sound”--recorded live, with no overdubbing, just as if we were rehearsing or performing. Anyone in the Asheville area in need of a demo or recording should consider Steven. He has a range of equipment to accommodate various scenarios, and he is an easy guy to work with.
